WHAT IS A STaC GAME and WHY DO THEY COST MORE?
STaC is an acronym for SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT at
CLUBS. Normally to win silver points you have to travel to Sectional Tournaments held at various locations throughout the country. Big Bear holds a sectional once a year in June. San Diego holds a sectional once a year mid-summer. If you win at a Sectional Tournament you are awarded silver points. Regular club games award black points. National events award gold points. A certain number of black, silver and gold are required in order to attain Life Master.
Playing in a STaC is your chance to win SILVER masterpoints by playing in a local club game. Twice a year we participate in the District STaC game. In order to participate, we are charged $6.00 per table extra. This is why the cost to play in a STaC is higher than a regular game.
There are over 100 participating clubs, all playing the same hands with the results being compared against each other. Winning with so many tables can pay major points! The game will be stratified so each pair will be competing with only their peers in that category.
