LUCKY SCORES JACKPOT
In the near future I will be starting a jackpot for anyone who is lucky enough to end the game with the winning matchpoint number randomly chosen by a player at the start of each game. Players will contribute $1.00 each game to the jackpot. The jackpot value will be posted each week on the calendar and at the game.
POTLUCK DINNER
On Wednesday September 23 we will be celebrating our first year as a sanctioned bridge club by having a potluck dinner. Please sign up at any of the games and bring one of your favorite recipes to share. For the non-bakers, Costco has some great items in their frozen foods to taste test! Plan to arrive by 5:15 and come hungry!
UNIT PARTY AT SOUTHBAY FISH AND GRILL
We will hold our Fall 2009 Unit party on Saturday Oct 10, starting with lunch at 11 AM and bridge to follow.
The party will be held at the South Bay Fish and Grill at 570 Marina Parkway in Chula Vista in the Captain's room.
All members of the Unit, who have played 5 times at the Unit’s clubs since the May 9 2009 party, may attend the lunch for free. Others, e.g. spouses and friends, and members who have not played 5 times, must pay $ 20. Non-members, who have played 7 times since the spring party at our clubs, are invited to join the luncheon for free.
Sign-ups, and withdrawals, have to complete by Oct. 3. All bridge players, who play in the game following the brunch, will pay the Unit a $ 5 card fee. The fee is payable at sign up.
MASTERPOINT LEADERS
At the top of each page we have a new link to the masterpoint leaders. Often some of the more experienced players play with beginners in an effort to support the growth of the club at the sacrifice of a higher position on the list. A special thanks to all of you.

I finally have posted photos in a semi-album format. It took months to figure out how to do it, and it's not perfect but it works (for now). Thanks to Matt Kidd for pointing me to a program to get me started.

COMMONLY USED CONVENTIONS STARTS SEPT 21ST
We are starting the third series for players wanting to update their game to modern bidding methods starting Mondays at 6:00 - 8:30 pm. Commonly used Conventions teaches you the core conventions guaranteed to strengthen your game. It introduces you to the Stayman conventions, Jacoby transfer bids, Jordon 2NT, Jacoby 2NT, the strong artifical two club opening, Drury, Reverse Drury. This book gives you a chance to get ahead and win! If you sign up for the class, you can repeat it for free as many times as you like. PRICE INCREASE STARTING SEPT 9TH
When I started the bridge club I had no idea of how many hidden costs there were. I will not be able to continue at the current rates. Fees will be $7.00 per game starting Sept 9th.
BRIDGE PRO TO SPEAK AFTER MORNING GAME
For 30 minutes after the morning game, a bridge professional will give a little talk about some of the hands bid and played that morning and be available to answer any questions about the bidding or play. Eastlake Bridge Club is thrilled to be able to offer this service as a compliment to our game. Our own personal bridge genie!
HIRE A BRIDGE PRO FOR YOUR PRIVATE PARTY
Have a bridge pro sit at your table and coach you (and your guests) on the bidding and play in the comfort of your own home.
With each player the pro will be available to assist in the bidding and when the final contract is reached and played, he will analyse the play and defense. Your bidding, play of the hand and defense will improve dramatically. Invite your favorite partners to a couple hours of personalized coaching. Cost is $20.00 per person for 2 hours of fun and learning.
