I know a lot of you couldn't attend the CELEBRATION OF LIFE in honor of MIKE MCGINITY. Mike would have been proud of his old buddy Tom as he spoke about his 50+ year friendship with Mike, bringing him back to life in all our hearts as we heard
about a life rich and vibrant, a personality creative and inspiring,
and about a person who was truly admired by so many people he touched.
I came away feeling proud to have known him and honored to have met
his family and friends.
JACKPOT IS $92.00 and GROWING! We started the Lucky Scores Jackpot at our St. Paddy's Day Game and the winning pair will win the Jackpot for hitting the lucky score. This score is generated after the start of every game by calculating the matchpoints available, and having the computer generate a score between 25% and 75% of the matchpoints available. This score is posted and revealed at the end of the game. The pair with that exact score wins the jackpot! Conditions of Contest: If the winner is a first time contributor to the jackpot, then their booty is half of the jackpot.
Play twice and it's all yours!
PREDICT YOUR SCORE: Richard Keplinger suggested having a pair win half of the day's jackpot contribution so every game we have a winner. After round 1, each pair predicts their score (percentage) and the pair who most accurately predicted their score wins.
SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT at CLUBS On May 5th we are participating in the District STaC game.
This is your chance to win SILVER masterpoints by playing in a local club game. There are over 100 participating clubs, all playing the same hands with the results being compared against each other. The game will be stratified so each pair will be competing with only their peers in that category. Mark your calendar - you don't want to miss this one!
UNIT GAME MAY 19th: Eastlake Bridge Club will start hosting Unit games once a month (thank you Alice Leight for making that suggestion). Our first Unit game will be on Wednesday May 19th. Masterpoints will be awarded at a higher rate than a regular club game. Win more masterpoints and show support for the Unit by participating in this special event.
Remember to check the calendar every month for the date and time (usually the 3rd Wednesday) alternating between morning and evening game.
NEWCOMER GAME STARTING at the Norman Center to be held on the 3rd Thursday of every month (calendar). This game is for players new to bridge or duplicate with less than 5 masterpoints. Hands will be pre-dealt and not random but rather from the lessons in bridge basics I, II, and III. Hand records and analyses will be provided at the end of the game. This is a sanctioned game and masterpoints will be awarded! Information and sign up here.

BRIDGE PRO TO SPEAK AFTER MORNING GAME
For 30 minutes after the morning game, a bridge professional will give a little talk about some of the hands bid and played that morning and be available to answer any questions about the bidding or play. Eastlake Bridge Club is thrilled to be able to offer this service as a compliment to our game. Our own personal bridge genie!
HIRE A BRIDGE PRO FOR YOUR PRIVATE PARTY
Have a bridge pro sit at your table and coach you (and your guests) on the bidding and play in the comfort of your own home.
With each player the pro will be available to assist in the bidding and when the final contract is reached and played, he will analyze the play and defense. Your bidding, play of the hand and defense will improve dramatically. Invite your favorite partners to a couple hours of personalized coaching. Cost is $20.00 per person for 2 hours of fun and learning.
Remember: Take all your tricks (and some of theirs).
