MEMBER ACCOMPLISHMENT
Eastlake Bridge Club is growing! We have several new members this month, one of which has achieved another great accomplishment (one of many hundreds). Roz King played again this year in the USTA Nationals held in New York City and made it all the way to the finals losing in a gruelling 3 setter. See results here . Congratulations Roz!
Roz was also selected to play on the International Cup team this year representing the United States against the top teams from other nations. This year she will be competing in Turkey. Roz, need a ball caddy?
VACATION REMINDER
I will be in Yosemite from July 15th to the 21st (can you tell I love Yosemite?) There will be no lesson for that week (other than the workshop scheduled for Monday and lessons will continue for the rest of July when I get back.
WORKSHOPS
We held our first Workshop on opening bids. Everyone learned a lot and we had a lot of fun! I know many of you signed up but couldn't attend on that date. Don't worry. We will be doing a repeat in August. The next workshop is Monday July 14 and we will be focusing on bidding and responding to major suit openings.
2 CLUB OPENING FOR STRONG HANDS
Last week in our beginner class we went over how to bid strong hands. We discussed responses and had a chance to play some hands. It was nice to have Millie back from trip outside the country with her family. Sounds like she had a wonderful time. We love being in our new Eastlake Pavilion location!
NEW PAGES ADDED TO WEBSITE
I've been a busy little beaver lately adding pages and images. The newest addition is when you click on wistful Wilma on the home page, you find out some of the many benefits of playing bridge. We have a new signup page. Clicking on the tennis raquet takes you to the Eastlake Tennis Club and last but not least a link to the Eastlake Pavilion. Navigating there on your own is deliberately made difficult since the sites aren't completed and only a few links work.
Hope to see you all on Wednesday, July 23rd.
Remember: Take all your tricks (and some of theirs).
